Octoberfest at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a fabulous fall celebration for the whole family. The fun takes place the first three Saturdays Sept 28th, Oct 5th and Oct 12th. There are events for youngsters as well as the 21 and over crowd. Families can enjoy outdoor games, Axe Throwing, a beer stein holding contest and keg bowling. An authentic German oompah band will entertain audiences from noon to 4 p.m. with traditional polkas, waltzes, bierstube songs, and more! A beer Garden with German beers, bratwurst, soft pretzels and apple cider. At the General Store, look for scrumptious seasonal fudge flavors. Oktoberfest: If you're looking for an engaging fun fall activity that's perfect for the entire family, look no further than Oktoberfest on the Leadville Railroad. Join us on board every Saturday and Sunday in October for an beautiful fall train ride. The Leadville Railroad will be departing from our historic brick depot at 326 E. 7th St. Leadville Colorado for a fun filled 2.5 hour scenic train trip. Featuring delicious seasonal libations including local beers, hot cocoa and hot apple cider. This trip is great for the whole family to enjoy. Come prepared for the crisp mountain weather! We recommend extra coats and jackets, gloves or a blanket to snuggle with! The picturesque 2.5 hour trip includes captivating conductor commentary, with details about Leadville's colorful history and railroading in the area, not only that but you will get to see beautiful panoramic views of the upper Arkansas River Valley and two of Colorado's tallest peaks, MT. ELBERT and MT. MASSIVE, not to mention a stop at a historic steam engine water tower, where you can get of the train and explore part of the San Isabel National Forest! Is this train ride good for kids? Yes! We love having friends, families and even the dog on board our Oktoberfest train rides. (we will ask you to sign a waver for your pet once on board, please see FAQ for more details) What can you see during the 2.5 hour excursion? The first snowfall? The first ice storm? A bit of Halloween excitement? This is the time to relax and enjoy family and friends, bring the camera and a blanket then snuggle up with some hot cider, or other seasonal beverage. The train cars for general seating are not heated, we have fully open and semi enclosed cars. Bundle up for winter weather at 11,000 feet.
